Master Bath & Closet Refresh — Light Gray

A soft light gray, as used here, is the safest strong choice. Marble already carries veining and movement, and dual white vanities are a hard bright note, so the walls need to sit back rather than compete. Light gray gives the tile somewhere to sit without going stark white, and it keeps crisp white trim, doors and window casings reading as deliberate contrast.

Where the two open into each other, matching them is almost always the right call — it reads as one suite instead of two rooms that happen to be adjacent. That is what was done here, with the same light gray carried through from the master bath into the adjoining closet and the same white on trim and doors throughout.

Satin on the walls, semi-gloss on trim and doors. A master bath with a tiled walk-in shower puts real humidity into the air, and satin resists that while still cleaning up easily. Trim in semi-gloss gives the crisp edge against the wall color and takes the wiping that window casings and door frames get in a wet room.
