Exterior Repaint in Indian Hill, OH — Olympic Mountain & Kendall Charcoal

A high-contrast exterior repaint in Indian Hill, finished in two Benjamin Moore colors that do a lot of work together: Olympic Mountain across the board-and-batten siding and Kendall Charcoal on the windows, trim and garage doors.
Olympic Mountain is a soft, warm off-white — light enough to keep the house bright, but with enough gray in it that it never reads stark or chalky against the stone. Kendall Charcoal is the classic deep warm charcoal, and it is what gives the elevation its structure: every window, every trim board and every garage opening is drawn in hard against the pale field.
A palette like this is unforgiving. With that much contrast, a wandering cut line between the siding and the trim is visible from the street, so the bulk of our time went into the edges — straight lines on every batten, clean returns at the corner boards, and crisp breaks where the siding meets the natural stone, which was left unpainted throughout.
Board-and-batten is also slower than it looks. Every batten is an extra two edges to cut and a surface that wants to hold a run, so the field coats were worked in sections and kept wet rather than rushed across the wall.
Two Benjamin Moore colors: Olympic Mountain on the board-and-batten siding and Kendall Charcoal on the windows, trim and garage doors. Olympic Mountain is a warm off-white with enough gray in it to stay soft against stone, and Kendall Charcoal is a deep warm charcoal that outlines the architecture without reading as flat black. The natural stone was left unpainted.
Yes, noticeably. When the trim is several shades darker than the siding, every cut line between them is visible from the street, so the edges carry the whole job. On board-and-batten in particular each batten adds two more edges to cut. The field coats go on quickly; the time goes into the lines, the corner board returns and the breaks where siding meets stone.
Exterior paint is your home’s first layer of protection. A good coating seals out moisture, guards against sun and weather, and helps prevent wood rot and other damage. So a repaint is not just cosmetic — it is real maintenance that protects the structure underneath.
It varies with siding type, sun exposure, and the quality of the previous job, but many homes go roughly 7 to 10 years between exterior repaints when the work is done well. Proper prep and premium paint are the biggest factors in stretching that interval.
