Bathroom Repaint — Forest Green & White Trim

It is usually the opposite. A small room is where a saturated color works best, because you experience it all at once rather than across a large wall. Deep forest green against crisp white trim, as here, makes a small bathroom feel deliberate and enveloping rather than cramped. The rooms where dark colors go wrong are large ones with poor light, not small ones.

Satin or semi-gloss, not flat. A bathroom combines steam, splashing and frequent cleaning, and a flat finish absorbs moisture and burnishes the moment you scrub it. Satin handles humidity and wipes clean while still looking soft. Trim and doors are usually a step higher again in semi-gloss, which is what gives the crisp white line against a deep wall color.

With prep, not with tape alone. High contrast is unforgiving — a wandering line between forest green and white is visible from the doorway. The trim is finished first, the line is cut by hand rather than relying on tape to do the work, and the dark wall usually needs an extra coat because saturated colors carry less pigment hiding power than they appear to.
